Commtel COM215

com215

It's fairly simple to equip the COM215 with a discriminator output. The interior of the scanner is spacious, and DIL IC's are used.

The receiver IC is a JRC 3359. Undoubtedly, this is a clone of Motorola's MC3359. The unfiltered audio can be found on pin 10.

Resistor, wire and chassis plug: that's all

A 10 k resistor is connected to pin 10. The other lead of the resistor is connected to a 3.5 mm chassis terminal in the back of the scanner using a short piece of insulated wire. As the back panel is grounded, a separate ground connection is not necessary.
