Uniden/Bearcat UBC9000XLT

|
Adding a discriminator output to a UBC9000XLT is
rather straightforward. When you remove the lid of the scanner, and
disconnect the loudspeaker connector, the discriminator signal can be
found at TP3 (test point 3). |

Overview
|
| TP3 is connected via a 12 k resistor to a 3.5 mm
chassis terminal on the back of the scanner. Just above TP3, there's a
small solder pad and an SMD capacitor. For better mechanical stability,
I connected the resistor with that capacitor. The inner wire of a piece
of shielded cable is connected to the other lead of the resistor. The
shield of the cable is connected to the metal shield of the IF coil
left of the discriminator IC. |
