PDW Support / Re: Error: Unable to open audi...
Last post by Adam - 17 Jun 2026, 19:38:33
Hi,

I assume you have it working now - you need to ensure you have audio input plugged in whether that is mic or line-in and sound settings are enabled.

The drop down menu should show the default audio device and will be greyed unless there is more audio input options such as a USB sound card too.

Hope this helps.

The USB interface has been unavailable for several months due to the poor availability of the FTDI chip responsible for serial communication. Delivery lead times for FTDI chips have been pushed back further and further over the past months. Whereas May or June 2026 was still quoted as the delivery date at the beginning of this year, the manufacturer's current estimates now range between November 2026 and February 2027. These structural delays have led to a revision of the USB interface design.

To reduce dependence on FTDI chips, the interface design has been adapted to use the MCP2221A from Microchip. This alternative chip provides the same functionality for serial communication and is readily available in ample supply. The new design retains the reliability of the original while eliminating dependence on FTDI's problematic delivery times.

The revised USB interface has now been fully developed and tested and is immediately available.

Hi,

Error: unable to open audio device and when I go to Interface setup the soundcard is greyed out.
Would anyone have any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

PDW Support / Filters
Last post by Adam - 29 Jun 2024, 07:18:55
Hi members, when setting up filters & using the "&" option between phrases to ensure the key words are in the message works well.

Is there anyway to set filters to look for a phrase in a list of muliply entries in one filter? I guess I am looking for an "OR" option. Example: Accident or traffic or MVA&M 20

Further to that, could it have an "OR" option with an "&" option at the end to ensure a key phrase is prest.

I am trying to save in filter numbers if & can get PDW to just hit on one phrase if mulitple can be added.

I have been using PDW since 2006 and have searched for information with no luck.

Thanks

PDW Support / Re: where is the slicer driver...

The slicer driver is only used in Windows 98, Vista, XP and Windows 7 32 bits.

In PDW Interface Setup, select either Soundcard or RS232. The latter setting is for use with the  USB interface.
