Poor decoding with RS232 interface
« on: 14 Oct 2013, 07:27:05 »
Hello!

I just bought two RS232 interfaces but I'm having trouble getting them to work properly. With these interfaces the quality indicator (top right in PDW) is showing between 40-60%, with my old 2-level interface I get 99-100% decoding.

I use them to decode 1200 baud POCSAG, one is connected to a Uniden UBC-760XLT and the other to a Uniden UBC-780XLT, both modified with discriminator outputs following the guides on this site.

DIP-switches are set to OFF-ON according to the manual. I use PDW v3.12.

I don't know if I missed something, do I need to change anything else in PDW other than set interface to RS232?

Anything else I can try?

Thanks,
Andreas

Is PDW decoding the messages correctly? The only reason I ask is because I am also using an RS232 interface with the usb adaptor and although mine shows around 90% in the top right hand corner it is decoding every message almost perfectly. I am using an Alinco X11 which has a Discrim option built in and I have never had such good decoding.

Also, what is your signal quality like?

Never mind, it seems to be working now.  :)
