I'm using pdw 3.1 on windows 7 64 bit with an Icom PCR2500 scanner and not having much luck. I use the USB audio built into the scanner but I can't get good results no matter what setting I try. I've got good strong signals but in PDW when I click interface/volume I get nothing. How can I set/check the volume if the menu doesn't work? Has anyone out there tried PDW with an icom? which setting works best? thanks for any help...

ok I found the solution, so for anyone else with an icom PCR scanner it's the packet socket on the back of the device. Connect a mono-to-mono audio cable (3.5mm) from the (correct) packet socket to the mic input on your PC. Spend about 10 hours setting the mic volume to about 40% of the full level for an incoming pocsag signal. Use the default settings in Interface/Setup the PDW program - make sure your mic input is selected in the soundcard box. This worked for me, and I had a good  laugh when I read:
'incident at starbucks nottingham, assault with cone'.

Discriminator

Correct. It's also mentioned here  8)

yeah that's where I got the info from but what really annoyed me was there is no mention of any discriminator output in the icom  user manual. They call it a 'packet' output and as a newbie I was searching the pdf manual for the word "discriminator" - which doesn't appear anywhere.
