RS232 interface enclosure help

Hi,

Has anybody mounted their RS232 interface into an abs enclosure? I'm just looking at different ideas as to how to mount te pcb into a case. Any ideas?

I haven't found a tidy way of doing this. Rene suggested plastic soap cases which would probably work for single interfaces, but where you have multiple interfaces (I have 4) finding something that is compact and can mount the boards whilst catering for the cables at both ends is tricky. I ended up putting insulation material between the boards and putting them in a plastic kit box with cable ties to keep them together. Not elegant, but works!

Ideally, you want something that can clamp or hold the sides of the boards whilst allowing visibility of the green LED. The edges don't have a lot to hold on to so maybe some firm non-conductive foam grip arrangement might be the way.

Hi,
    I have mounted many of the RS232 Interfaces using cheap Jiffy Boxes from Jaycar (link below). I actually solder separate panel RS232, 3.5mm and 2.1mm audio plugs onto the board with short cable runs. I cut out a slot for the RS232 plug on the box and drill holes for the audio and power plugs. I like these boxes as they are the exact size for the PCB board and that means they don’t move around much. Also being transparent means I can easily see if the LED is flashing as it is suppose to. I find they work really well. Just my two cents worth.

I have manged to get the interface in one of these boxses. 90x56x23mm ABS Plastic Enclosure Small Project Box.

I can only offer what has worked so well for me.

Being old and needing glasses the company
I buy my specs from send me these plastic glasses cases.

I to tried various boxes so I took a knife to the ends of one of these cases
and made a hole in each end for cables and the board fits perfectly with leads coming
out each end  and I can see the little light working,  quick , dirty yet elegant. Yay :-)tre
