Seeking help to get started
« on: 18 Nov 2015, 08:03:20 »
Hi  I am a person with a few or many grey hairs and not computer savvy with an old computer and a UBC61XLT with a discriminator tap
I have downloaded PDW 3.1 onto an old computer which is running XP and I am unable to get PDW running.I get told to instal the sliceer driver from the install package
I ask where do I find this and how do I get it running

Hi Straddy,
I assume you've followed the various instructions in http://www.discriminator.nl/index-en.html, particularly PDW QuickStart.

The slicer software is in the xp_driver.zip file in the PDW zip file. Just extract it and run the install.exe file.

First indication that the feed from the discriminator to PDW is the meter flickers.

After that, depends on what you are trying to decode - you need to configure PDW to suit what you want it to do.

If you can provide a bit more information, we can perhaps guide you a bit more!

Cheers
...Steve

The slicer software is in the xp_driver.zip file in the PDW zip file. Just extract it and run the install.exe file.

Further to that, if you use the sound card for decoding, there's no need to install the slicer driver.

From Straddy
The meter in the top right hand corner is moving to about quarter scale but nothing on the screen. I am wanting to decode the Pocsag/flex paging
Thanks

Hi Reg,
Connecting via serial port or sound card?

Either way, you'll need to set PDW settings to exactly what it is you are trying to monitor, and if via the sound card also play a lot with the sound settings. There are numerous postings on this, and the PDW documentation and quick start guide should help you out.

Cheers
