New PDW version with SSL support
« on: 20 Aug 2016, 12:28:31 »
Today I have released a beta version of PDW. Andrey Grodzovsky has taken on PDW's email function. Thanks to him, it now supports SSL as well. I have tested the new version with Gmail. Your experiences and bug reports are welcome below ;)

Download PDW 3.2b01

Issue reported on Dutch scannerforum.nl: this version gives an error message 'Not a valid Win32 application' on Windows XP. I have reproduced this error on a Windows XP Virtual Machine. Digging into this shortly.

Thanks Rene.
I'm using XP so I'll wait till the XP issue is resolved. Unfortunately i can't read Dutch so the scannerforum.nl isn't much help to me:-(

Great news that Andrey is developing the email function. Are there plans to improve the ability of PDW to retry email failures (eg due to timeout or internet connection being down)? This is a source of frustration to me, where I frequently lose email notifications when my ADSL is congested.

Many thanks both of you!

Cheers
...Steve

I have uploaded a version that should be OK in Windows XP. I have tested it on a virtual XP Machine. Download link in my first message.

Unfortunately, I lack the programming skills to deep dive into the email functionality myself, so I have to rely on other developers.

Thanks Rene. Will download and test in the next few days.

Is it possible to get an update from Andrey (I don't know if he is monitoring this board) regarding the changes and additional functionality in email? As indicated above, I'm particularly keen to imrove the capability of sending email under poor or congested internet connection (to SMTP Server) situations.

Cheers

Which Windows version do you use?  Slicer, Interface or soundcard? Any recent changes to the machine running PDW?

AH! Here's my post!
Thanks for moving Rene.

I'm running a HP Thinclient, t5740.
With Windows Embedded Standard SP3.

Level 2 interface, been running for many months now very happily.

Crash looks to be pretty random, nothing stands out that is causing it.

16 days of PDW running and I've got the error once again.
Should i run a local mailserver that can push the emails to Gmail, so i can roll back PDW to an older version ?
Whats the solution.
