Hi Steve (like the name:-) )

Have you followed the instructions here http://www.discriminator.nl/pdw/pdw-manual.pdf ?

Particularly Options | SMTP Email (Page 19) and emails in the filter setups (page 23).

If still can't get it working, please can you provide more detail of the problem?

Cheers

Hi Steve
Try port 587:

Gmail SMTP Server Settings

    Gmail SMTP server address: smtp.gmail.com
Gmail SMTP user name: Your full Gmail address (e.g. example@gmail.com)
Gmail SMTP password: Your Gmail password
With Gmail 2-step authentication enabled, use an application-specific Gmail password.
    Gmail SMTP port (TLS): 587
    Gmail SMTP port (SSL): 465
    Gmail SMTP TLS/SSL required: yes

Cheers

Hi Steve,
from Google..... "STARTTLS is a way to take an existing insecure connection and upgrade it to a secure connection using SSL/TLS. Note that despite having TLS in the name, STARTTLS doesn't mean you have to use TLS, you can use SSL"

Try the SSL port 465.

I think just change the port in PDW and it must work it out. I'm using port 587 (but not on gmail) and I don't recall making any other changes to make it work.

You could also use you ISP's SMTP server (eg mail.iinet.com.au for my ISB (iiNet)).
